WASHINGTON DC - MUSEUMS

We made it a priority during our visit to visit 3 of the Smithsonian Museums: the Natural History, American History, and Air & Space Museums. What follows is a greatest hits compilation of what we saw while we were there.

A satellite image showing the entire world's population:

An original ballot from the South Africa election that resulted in Nelson Mandela becoming President.

A real mummy - over 2200 years old:

The Hope Diamond:

An Easter Island statue:

A drone - much like the one being used now:

Dad creepily touching a statue:

Even the Smithsonian appreciates the fine art of the mini van:

The first light bulb...ever...

A Purple Heart, given to a soldier who stormed the beach in Normandy:

Two beams taken from the wreckage of the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks:

A few pieces of the Berlin Wall after it was torn down:

A personal highlight - the jacket Bob Dylan wore went he went electric at the Newport Folk Festival:

A living legend:

Dorothy's red slippers:

Not a big deal here - just the first airplane ever flown:

Charles Lindberg's Spirit of St. Louis:

Amelia Earhart's gear:

The very plane she set most of her records in:

A lunar module from one of the Apollo missions:

Me touching a moon rock...pretty sure it was just a broken 7-up bottle:
